LOCATION: South Africa, Somerset West
REPORT TO: Test Lead
KEY PURPOSE OF JOB
Product development and manufacturing Aerospace Engineering Company in Somerset West has a permanent position for a Test Technician to take responsibility for the testing of electronic and mechanical products used in a satellite-based system.
KEY TASKS
• Responsible for electronic testing of boards, sub-assemblies, and completed units according to current documentation.
• Ensuring that all relevant test data is logged appropriately and correctly.
• Responsible for assembling test equipment used for manufacturing, qualification, and acceptance testing.
• Execute environmental tests in-house and at remote test facilities.
• Responsible for fault finding and isolating the cause of failure on defective units.
• Performing testing and gathering data for investigations.
• Programming test scripts.
• Other ad-hoc duties as required by the company.
PREREQUISITES
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
• NDIP/B-TECH in Electronic Engineering from a recognised institution
• 1-3 years of experience in testing high-reliability electronic products
Experience (ideally within aerospace or defence industry):
• Design and implementation of test equipment
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electronic drawings
• Ability to effectively use off-the-shelf test equipment
• Appreciation and experience of ISO9001 requirements
Additional knowledge areas that would strengthen the application.
• Testing of Optical/Optomechanical systems
• Testing of radio frequency products, and knowledge of test equipment
• Cleanroom, ESD and optical assembly environment
• Own car and valid driver’s license preferable
